A home away from home. Even though by definition of the Antillian law an immigrant is considered a citizen after 10 years of residency, you never forget your roots.... For many this means living far away from their loved ones and living on a island with surprisingly many cultural differences from their home (is)land. This was the reason for starting the "Fundacion Arubano Macuarima" (FAM)! It's founder Mr. Milton Yarzagaray is an Arubian living in Curacao for some 28 years now. As a patriotic Arubian you can be assured that he misses Aruba's "pan bati", the "dande" and all the other things that make Aruba so unique. For this reason we at FAM offer different events for the Arubian community here in Curacao so we can all get together to celebrate. These events are not only for the Arubians. Another very important goal for us at FAM is to unite the Antillian community with the Arubian community; to exchange cultures and to learn from each other.... But most importantly : to enjoy a great atmosphere which is a happy one and especially a safe one.
